Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP full review

The Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP is a graphics card with a solid specification, at a low-cost price.

Computer components are rarely intended to be pretty and the Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP graphics card is one of the least attractive we've seen.

The Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP is saddled with a pair of chunky heat sinks and is thus neither thin nor elegant.

Nor is it particularly cool in operation. The Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP ran so hot we almost resorted to using oven gloves when extracting it from our test PC. It's always a good idea to turn off the PC a few minutes before extracting a graphics card.

Costing around £113, the Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP is favourably priced but offers a similar performance to the Asus EN9800GT HybridPower. With 1GB of GDDR3, the Gigabyte has one of the best complements of memory in this price category, however.

The Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP's 720MHz core clock speed is among the fastest at the £100-£150 price point, too, while the 256bit bus and 1,800MHz memory clock combine to create a sturdy memory bandwidth figure of 57.6GBps.

Unfortunately, Gigabyte isn't able to translate all this into a formidable performance. For all its potential, the Gigabyte GV-NX96T1GHP seemed strangely subdued in our games tests, producing a string of average scores.
