Belinea 2230 S1W full review
It's pretty hard to make a display stand out from the crowd, and Belinea's 2230 S1W is no exception to this rule. The Belinea 2230 S1W measures a fashionable 22in, which has the benefit of allowing it to offer a higher native resolution (1,680x1,050) than 19in and 20in screens. But there's nothing much here that sets the Belinea 2230 S1W apart from the competition.
The Belinea 2230 S1W is uninspiring in terms of appearance – there's just a silver/grey square bezel around the screen, and a somewhat flimsy-feeling black stand which has a tendency to cause the screen to shake if you do something as daring as touch the desk or type on your keyboard.
The Belinea 2230 S1W's stand allows you to tilt the screen vertically, but there's no height adjustment.
Technically, the Belinea 2230 S1W is the same as Belinea's other 22in model, the 2225, except that it has a DVI (digital visual interface) as well as the standard analogue RGB port. For this privilege you pay around £50 more, which is disappointing as a digital connection should be standard in a monitor of this size and quality.
The picture quality is flawless in terms of clarity and contrast, and the image is consistent. However, we found the Belinea 2230 S1W's colour range to be a little disappointing, with most colours looking harsh and lacking in warmth, even after careful recalibration of the monitor.
Hardcore gamers may wish to look elsewhere for higher specifications in terms of contrast ratio, although, for the majority, the Belinea 2230 S1W is perfectly well specified.
The Belinea 2230 S1W includes a pair of built-in speakers which are adequate for office use, but anyone wishing to play games or listen to music would be advised to steer well clear.
