Dell C1765nfw full review
Dell clearly had small businesses in mind when it designed the Dell C1765nfw. It has a comparatively modest footprint, a full set of multifunction capabilities and straightforward instructions. And yet it still manages to miss several obvious opportunities.

On the plus side, it will allow you to send faxes as well as print, copy and scan. It's also quite compact with dimensions that will fit comfortably on a small desk (410 x 379 x 338mm), although it's weightier than we expected at 15.5kg.
Stylistically, however, the Dell C1765nfw is one of the more ungainly printers on the market with the control panel jutting unnecessarily over the front of the machine, thus partly obscuring the output arm underneath it.
Dell has also insisted on fitting a monochrome 4-line, 20-character LCD to take charge of the menu options. It doesn’t tilt nor allow you to preview the documents you may want to print from the USB memory stick holder below the panel.
The Dell C1765nfw is also a relatively low-volume printer as the drop-down input tray at the front will only hold 150 sheets of standard A4 paper, with an Auto Document Feeder on top that will copy a further 15 sheets. A small 'Priority Sheet Inserter' fits on top of the input tray when needed.
Connectivity, on the other hand, is more expansive as it includes Wi-Fi alongside the usual USB 2.0 and ethernet, with a dedicated button for wireless WPS linking. Auto duplexing, though, is not a feature.
Dell C1765nfw: Performance
On the speed front, the Dell C1765nfw is a bit of a mixed bag. Mono documents emerge at the stated speed of 15ppm and colour at 12ppm. Printing an A4 photo from a memory stick took a zippy 15 seconds. Yet copying text documents from the ADF is grindingly slow and is only recommended if you need to make a cup of coffee in between.
Text quality is generally solid and bold. Photos are sharp but with a slightly yellow tinge to the colours. Copies overall are fainter than the originals but still acceptable.
For toner cartridges, the high-yield refills are around £70 for black, which works out at 3.5p per page for text (nominal 2000 pages); and 10.5p/page for colour, which is on the high side.
