Eclipse eBiz i321r755 full review

Many users find that using a pair of monitors can significantly improve productivity, so Eclipse has included a pair of 21.6in monitors with its eBiz i321r755 system. See also Group test: What's the best budget PC?

Powered by an older dual-core Intel Core i3-2100 processor running at 3.1GHz, it’s the least powerful of the Intel-based PCs, yet still performs better than either of the quad-core AMD systems in our tests, scoring 139 points in WorldBench 6. Visit Group test: What's the mid-range desktop PC?

If you run many multi-threaded applications such as Adobe Photoshop, you might find a quad-core AMD-based PC to have some advantage. But for general office use, the dual-core eBiz i321r755 has surplus performance. Windows 7 Home Premium is included, which costs less than Windows 7 Professional, and is ill-suited for many office installations. Go to Group test: What's the best office PC?

The PC comes with 8GB of RAM and a 1-terabyte hard disk too, which is the most on offer from any of this month’s business PCs. It uses the same Asus P8H61-M LE/USB motherboard as Chillblast’s Fusion Obsidian, albeit with the much lower performance of the Core i3 processor. The chip comes with Intel HD Graphics 2000 built in, but Eclipse has also included a AMD Radeon HD 7750 graphics card with 1GB of video memory to give it the extra oomph to help cope with those two screens.

The system is constructed inside Eclipse’s generic and very basic system case. It’s a far cry from the comparatively smart CyberPower housing, but really it’s all that’s needed to do the job.

While the two monitor setup is a great idea, the chosen monitors leave a little to be desired. The AOC F22+ is a low-cost option which makes the dual-head configuration more affordable, but it has a relatively thick bezel and the stand, which runs the full width of the display, takes up a lot of desk space. It also has poorer image quality than premium models such as the one shipped by Chillblast.
