The Legacy Saga Series shows the company is pushing the accessibility of its own software and high-quality fitness features against the market dominance of the Apple Watch and Fitbit.
The 40mm white Rey and 45mm black Darth Vader designs rather conform to gender stereotypes and both retail at £349. That’s only £50 less than the new Apple Watch Series 5.
It’s a slightly odd move from Garmin given its usual concentration on deathly serious fitness watches and is a clear attempt to appeal to a wider audience as we enter Star Wards hype season. The watches will offer syncing to a Star Wars themed Garmin connect app, reward exercise with exclusive software badges and are each etched on the back with quotes from Rey and Vader.
If you’re in the market for a smartwatch that’s a bit different but also offers decent fitness options then these could tick the right boxes. The watches both have GPS, a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, music playback, Garmin Pay and work with Android or iPhone. They can track a whole host of activities while reminding you with their designs to book tickets for 19 December.
There are workouts available right from the watch too, alongside the Star Wars customisation options with animations and in-app avatars exclusive to owners of either watch.
