We gave the new Google Nest Mini a full five stars in our review, but the reality is it's not really all that different from this older version, adding a wall mount, an audio jack, and slightly enhanced speakers. The Google Home Mini remains one of our favourite smart speakers of all time, especially with its recent price reduction, making it the cheapest entry point for adding Google Assistant to your home.
Very much like Amazon's alternative Echo Dot, we prefer Google Assistant over Alexa for its ability to converse in more natural language, and to call anyone in your Google Contacts for free over a Wi-Fi connection. It's an ideal device for controlling smart home kit such as smart lighting, connecting to a wide range of third-party services, but more than that it's simply a great connected speaker for listening to all your favourite music on-demand, internet radio and playlists. It can answer all your questions and even tell you about the news, and that's just the start.
The other half of this bundle is just as attractive, with the Ace 2 a fitness tracker hailing from the company that has become synonymous with such tech, and this model is designed just for kids aged 6 and above. It's waterproof, making it safe for use in the bath, but also more easy to clean when it gets near those sticky fingers.
For its younger audience Fitbit has made some tweaks, stripping out the calorie counting and adding in different modes for kids and parents. Through the Kid View, kids can see only their stats data, badges and clock face options, plus are able to connect with parent-approved friends.
