Remember the jelly shoes you used to wear to the beach as a kid? It seems Fossil Group has decided to model its latest Diesel branded smartwatch on those. Maybe 2020's fashion trends will justify this odd stylistic choice.
But maybe we’re being too critical. Smartwatches all look the same in most cases and if see through plastic in bold colours is more your thing, then who are we to judge?
Announced at CES 2020, the Diesel On Fadelite comes in four colour combos mixing black, red, blue and clear, the latter with an iridescent petrol look.
The watch runs on the latest Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor and Google’s Wear OS. Like Fossil Group’s other assets Puma and Michael Kors, the On Fadelite differentiates itself with the exclusive Diesel watchfaces and interactive dials it comes with.
The software also packs in weather effects, a globe dial to show two time zones and artwork from partner artists.
Aside from the flash looks, the watch is just as functional as other smartwatches out there with the full Google Fit suite of fitness tracking paired with the heart rate sensor and built in GPS. It’s also swimproof and has rapid charging.
Whether or not you like the styling, at least Fossil is plugging away at giving the market a variety of Wear OS watches for different tastes. Unfortunately, Wear OS isn’t getting much better year on year – if we get the On Fadelite in for review hopefully we can better judge if it’s worth the cash.
It’s on sale from March from Diesel for £249.
