The operator also announced no ongoing data charges for over 20 support websites, mirroring O2’s earlier offer. Tesco Mobile is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) and uses O2’s network to serve its customers.
O2 has additionally offered all of its pay monthly customers unlimited calls going forward, while Vodafone gifted 500,000 customers unlimited data.
Tom Denyard, CEO of Tesco Mobile said, “In these unprecedented times we’ve seen a huge increase in our customers using their minutes allowance with relatively little change to data usage or text messaging, so free minutes felt the best way to help all of our customers right now. We wanted everyone to have a chance to talk to their loved ones for free each day, especially the most vulnerable and those in isolation.”
