Samsung has today announced that its new Galaxy Tab A tablet, which comes in a version with an S Pen digital stylus (aka Tab A Plus), will go on sale in the UK. Samsung Galaxy Tab A UK release date, price: When is the Tab A coming out? How much will the Tab A Plus cost?
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A will go on sale in the UK on 21 May. Over here it will be available in three versions, all with 9.7in screens: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi + LTE, and a second Wi-Fi-only version that includes an S Pen digital stylus.
Samsung has not yet announced UK pricing for these new Galaxy Tabs, but in the US the Wi-Fi-only 9.7in version is available at $299. The S Pen variant is also thought to go on sale there this week at $349.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A specifications and features: What to expect from the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A
Samsung's Galaxy Tab A matches the iPad Air and Air 2 with a new 9.7in screen and 4:3 aspect ratio. This is an XGA TFT panel, which Samsung says it is optimised for the way people use tablets, providing a better-proportioned and more natural viewing experience for web pages, e-books and magazines. It also comes with preinstalled apps such as OneDrive (with 115GB of free storage), The Economist and Kindle for Samsung. Other preinstalled Microsoft apps include Office, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Skype, providing a full productivity solution.
The Galaxy Tab A runs Android Lollipop with a refined user interface, allowing users to view up to five notification cards onscreen at once and benefit from a simplified Contacts layout that puts their Favourites list as the default view. A new Kids Mode is also available to download that lets parents to keep tabs on what their kids are up to, while allowing up to six children to create their own customised Home screen and user profile.
In the core hardware there have also been some improvements. Inside the Galaxy Tab A is a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 2GB of RAM (1.5GB in the Wi-Fi-only model). Storage is set at 16GB, but there's also a microSD card slot for adding up to 128GB.
The cameras have been upgraded and you'll now find 5Mp at the rear and 2Mp at the front. The primary camera can take advantage of an Auto Focus, One Shot Mode and Continuous Shot (a 20-shot burst mode). Video recording is possible at 720p.
Connectivity wise you'll find 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS and GLONASS, The LTE model also supports the following bands: LTE FDD: 800/850/900/1800/2100/2600MHz, 3G: HSPA+42/5.76 850/900/1900/2100MHz, 2G: EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900MHz.
All three versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A come with a 6000mAh battery that should offer up to 10 hours life. Each measures 166.8x242.5x7.5mm, while the Wi-Fi-only model weighs 450g, LTE 456g and S Pen 487g.
