The HTC Flyer tablet was one of the 'wow' products at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Looks-wise, it's an enlarged version of one of HTC's solidly built smartphones. Given how good some of those are, this seems rather sensible.

HTC is proclaiming the Flyer an excellent portable gaming device. Packing a 1.5GHz processor, an accelerometer and GPS, plus native Flash support, we don’t doubt the 7in screen tablet will be an entertaining little number. Using a special OnLine gaming controller and the OnLine gaming portal that comes preinstalled, the 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled tablet will also hook you up to your online gaming buddies.

E-books, photo gallery, a movie mode and a ‘safe’ area for kids with a storyteller are all included, while the famous HTC swipe screens let you switch instantly from task to task. You also get a digital pen for making notes and highlighting items, that the Flyer then collates for you.

Although the German Amazon website has been showing a price of 669 euros for the past month, an actual launch date has, until now, been elusive.
