The price and release date for Sony's Xperia SP and Xperia L smartphones have been revealed. The Xperia SP and Xperia L join Sony's flagship Xperia Z into its 2013 smartphone range. Online retailer Clove has announced the pair will go on sale towards the end of April and cost £322 and £234 respectively. See also: Group test: what's the best Android phone? Sony said: "The Xperia SP delivers 4G LTE performance and an exceptional viewing experience, with a razor sharp HD screen housed in a beautiful design. The Xperia L provides class leading camera technology with HDR for both photos and videos complemented by a high quality screen." At these prices the Xperia SP is a mid-range smartphone while the Xperia L sits at the upper end of the budget entry-level category. Colours include black, white and red. Both the Xperia SP and Xperia L come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8GB of internal storage, microSDHC slot, 1GB of RAM, NFC and an 8Mp rear camera with HDR mode and Sony's Exmor RS sensor. One of the main differences to point out is that the Xperia SP offers 4G LTE capability but the Xperia L does not. The former features a 4.6-inch display (720×1280) with a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and the latter a 4.3-inch screen (480 x 854) 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip.
