The Poco F2 would be the obvious choice for the next flagship smartphone from the firm but it has confirmed it will be the X2. A launch is taking place on 4 February at 12pm (in India). We predict a release date later in the month.
Like many smartphone makers, Poco (now an independent company from Xiaomi) has been teasing things about the device ahead of the launch. The headline feature is a 120Hz refresh rate for the screen, which is exactly what OnePlus announced recently, too.
Poco is calling it ‘extreme refresh rate’ for ‘extreme gaming’ calling it Realityflow120Hz. The higher refresh rate will provide a smoother experience for users. Poco wants you to visit smoothaf.co.in on your phone to see how smooth it is.
Other details teased about the Poco X2 include a Qualcomm processor, liquid cooling, camera tech and fast charging. Reports suggested the phone would be a rebadged Realmi K30 but further details show some differences.
Apart from a 120Hz refresh rate, the display looks like it will use LCD technology and include a teardrop notch at the top to house the front camera.
The rear camera is thought to be a 64Mp Sony IMX686 senor, which is likely to appear on many smartphones in 2020. However, the X2 might just have a secondary wide-angle lens on the back rather than the quad line-up seen on the K30.
The processor could well be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G as found in the K30, along with 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of storage. A 4500mAh battery combined with 27W fast charging is also possible.
We’ll find out for sure on 4 Feb when Poco will hopefully also announce the price. It might launch at the same price as the Pocophone F1 despite that phone launching in August 2018. That’s £329/Rs 14,999 and will rival the Realme X2.
One thing we do know is that it will be available to buy from Flipkart.
