Xiaomi looks to be revolutionising the smartphone market once again with its Mi Mix Alpha, otherwise known as the Mi Mix 4.

The original Mi Mix was the first phone to completely do away with a phone's top bezel, implementing the selfie camera below the screen, swapping the proximity sensor with an under-screen distance sensor, and replacing the earpiece with some special tech that in essence causes the phone itself to vibrate to deliver sound.

Now Xiaomi wants to remove all four bezels in what is said to be a 100% screen design. Leaked images point to a wraparound screen much like we've seen on the folding edge of the Huawei Mate X.

Mi Mix Alpha is one of two new phones confirmed to launch during tomorrow's press conference, both with support for 5G. The other is yet another Mi 9 model, but it would appear Xiaomi has saved the best until last: Mi 9 Pro should sit right at the top of the line, above the standard Mi 9, Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, Mi 9 SE and Mi 9 Lite

It's incredible that the company is still announcing new Mi 9 models when the anticipated Mi 10 launch is now just five months away, but these are beautiful, powerful and incredible-value phones that rival some of the best flagship- and mid-range phones money can buy.

When is the Mi Mix Alpha live stream?

Xiaomi's special event takes place in Beijing, China at 14:00 GMT+8 on 24 September 2019. If you're in the UK you'll have to get up early - it's a 7am start.
