LG G3 UK availability
The LG G3 launch event took place on 27 May. There were press events in San Francisco, New York and London, and we were at the London event to bring you the news as it happened in our
LG G3 live blog. LG announced that the LG G3 would be available in June. See our LG G3 hands-on review New features in LG G3: Screen
LG has slightly increased the screen size with the LG G3, making it 5.5 inches diagonally rather than the 5.2 inches of the LG G2. It has a new Quad HD screen, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, giving it an impressive 543ppi pixel density.
The screen is made with Gorilla Glass 3, so is tougher than the LG G2, which sported a Gorilla Glass 2 screen.
New features in LG G3: Processor
Another new feature in the LG G3 is the processor.
LG has put the G3 in level with rivals from the likes of Samsung, HTC and Sony, by giving it a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU. It pairs this with 2GB of RAM in the 16GB model, and 3GB of RAM in the 32GB model.
New features in LG G3: Camera
As expected, the camera has the same 13Mp sensor found in the G2, but LG has improved it by adding OIS+ (optical image stabilisation) technology and a super fast 'Laser' auto focus. It also offers 4K video recording. The front-facing camera is primed for selfies, allowing you to set an auto timer with a hand gesture.
New features in LG G3: Other specs
The LG G3 features a microSD slot for up to 128GB of storage, a feature that the LG G2 lacked. There are two options for internal memory – a 16GB model with 2GB RAM or a 32GB model with 3GB RAM.
The LG G3 also includes a 3,000mAh removable battery. The LG G2 has a non-removable 3,000mAh battery. Adaptive framerates, clocking and timing control means that despite the large screen the G3 should continue to offer very decent battery life.
In addition, the LG G3 comes with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, USB 2.0, Infrared, wireless charging and LTE-Advanced.
New features in LG G3: Accessories
LG has also announced new accessories alongside the G3. Among them is the new QuickCircle case, which is similar to the LG G2's QuickWindow case, but this time has a circle rather than a rectangle to give you quick access to some of the device's functionality.
