Measuring 353x256x56mm and weighing 3.8kg, the Dell ruggedised laptop is 15 percent thinner and around 5 percent lighter than the last rugged laptop Dell launched.
The Dell Latitude E6400 XFR features a 14.1in 1,280x800 touchscreen display with DirectVue Technology that allows users to see the screen, even in direct sunlight.
Featuring an Intel Centrino 2 processor, the laptop comes with up to 8GB RAM and the choice of either a 120GB shock-mounted hard drive or a 128GB solid state drive (SSD).
Users get a choice of either of two graphics cards; an nVidia Quadro NVS or Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. The laptop, which comes bundled with Windows Vista, also benefits from a five-in-one card reader and ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Optional extras include Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, a webcam and a fingerprint reader.
Priced from £2,679, the laptop is available from Dell next week.
