Quake II is free to grab from the Bethesda.net launcher - available here - for 72 hours. The countdown started at 12pm ET (5pm BST) on 12 August though, so you’ve only got until 5pm BST on Saturday to claim the game.
THANK YOU! The total is in, and you raised over $30,000 during #QuakeCon at Home for @NAACP_LDF, @DirectRelief, @TrevorProject, and @UNICEF!— Bethesda (@bethesda) August 10, 2020
As a thank you, we'll be unlocking Quake II on 8/12 and Quake III on 8/17, free for 72 hours each on the Bethesda net Launcher. pic.twitter.com/dfNM6F1qaH
It’s not all over if you miss it though - Bethesda will then start giving away Quake III from the Bethesda.net launcher for a second 72-hour period, starting at the same time on 17 August, so if you remember to check back you could get two classic Quake games this week without spending a penny.
In case you’ve forgotten, last year Quake II was also given a modern upgrade to support ray tracing. You’ll need an Nvidia RTX graphics card to take advantage - though of course everyone else can still enjoy the game just how it looked in the ‘90s.
