Riverdale season 4 rumours

Before you read on, it’s important to note that we’re not going to be able to avoid spoilers for season three in this section. If you’ve yet to watch it, what are you waiting for? If you’ve seen it right until the very end of the season three finale then you’re safe to continue.

The last episode of season three ended on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger with a flash-forward showing Archie, Veronica and Betty in the woods surrounding a bonfire, burning their bloody clothes. But the biggest shocker is that Jughead is not with the group, and Archie actually throws the character's iconic beanie on the fire.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa stated in an interview with TV Line that we should be "very worried" about Jughead's fate, so no doubt that this will be the new mystery of the season. If they have killed off this fan-favourite, it's a bold move from the show considering his popularity.

In the same interview, Aguirre-Sacasa also revealed that the theme of this year's season is homages to the novels that the writers enjoyed growing up. Titles like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Killing Mr. Griffin and The Secret History were all listed as inspirations for the plot for the school students.

Cheryl is also certainly set up for trouble with her girlfriend Toni, as she's storing her twin brother's corpse - Jason Blossom - in her basement. No doubt we'll see some reactions to this disturbing plot line.

As it's the gang's senior year, this season has been confirmed to be the last one set in Riverdale High School, so if the show is renewed we'll be certain to see a change of scenery.

We also know the names of the following seven episodes:

  • Episode 1 - Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam
  • Episode 2 - Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times at Riverdale High
  • Episode 3 - Chapter Sixty: Dog Day Afternoon
  • Episode 4 - Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween
  • Episode 5 - Chapter Sixty-Two: Witness for the Prosecution
  • Episode 6 - Chapter Sixty-Three: Hereditary
  • Episode 7 - Chapter Sixty-Four: The Ice Storm
