It’s the kind of thing that looks completely mad and dystopian without the context of coronavirus. Premier League football is returning, but the health situation in the UK is such that it’s not safe for large crowds to gather under government ruling.

Sky Sports managing director Robert Webster said, “We want Sky Sports viewers to still feel it all and have the best possible viewing experience - even if they can't be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends," remembering that even gathering in pubs and in large groups at home to watch the matches is technically against current rules.

If this all sounds too weird then you’ll be able to turn off the chants and listen in to what footballers and their managers actually shout at one another during matches and how rude they are to the referee. If you’re watching the matches not on Sky then that’s your only option.
