Allegedly the show will focus on grown-up versions of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup who are now in their twenties and regret giving up their childhoods to fight crime. However, the world is still in need of their powers, and they may need to overcome their hang-ups to help save the planet.

I'm in two minds about this reboot. On the one hand, the concept sounds like the show won’t take itself too seriously, which is the best approach with this sort of story. In addition, the writing talent behind the show also indicates the project is in safe hands, with Berlanti having worked on Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Nonetheless, there is a danger of completely ruining a beloved childhood show for many – and this didn’t seem to be a show that was in demand for a live-action adaptation. The original series ran from 1998-2005 for six seasons, and then was rebooted again in 2016. There was also a feature film back in 2002, but all of these were in the traditional cutsey animated style – not in live-action.

There’s been no confirmation on a release date, casting or international release outside of The CW. If it is exclusive to this channel, you can still watch The CW in the UK through the help of a VPN such as NordVPN or ExpressVPN.
