If you’ve seen it, you’ll know that not least among the programme’s attractions is judge Patrick Grant, director of the Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons. And now, Singer Sewing Machines is running a draw to win a sewing lesson with the man in the very sharp suit. Who wouldn't be up for that?
One way to enter the competition is by purchasing a Singer sewing machine from an authorised retailer until July 31st. You simply fill out an entry form on the Singer site and cross your fingers.
There will be two lessons with the tailor, each with seven available places. At the moment, the lessons are slated for September 11th, 2020, but may be rescheduled depending on advice from Public Health England closer to the time.
The winners will get the chance to customise a garment or accessory with the help of Singer sewing experts. Patrick will be on hand to chat and advise and at the each of each session, he’ll give his thoughts on the creations.
One participant in each session can also bring along a friend or family member from another generation to work with them on their project. This is part of Singer's commitment to passing on a love of sewing from generation to generation (which is really very sweet).
You can find out more about the competition on the Singer website. Here are the terms & conditions.
John Lewis is one of the approved stockists for the competition. It has three models of Singer sewing machines in stock and available for delivery. They are, luckily, at a range of prices.
The Singer Mate 3337 costs £199. It can perform 29 different stitches, has an adjustable stitch length and a one-step buttonhole function.
If you’re willing to invest a bit more, the Singer Featherweight C240 will set you back £499. It has 70 stitch options, as well as the one-step buttonhole feature and plenty of accessories.
The deluxe model in stock is the Singer Modern Quilter 8500Q Machine. This machine is for people with advanced sewing skills. It features 9 utility and 176 decorative stitches.
To look for other approved Singer stockists, use the finder on the Singer site.
If you already own a Singer machine, you can enter the contest by sending a photo of yourself and your Singer sewing machine with a line on what you most enjoy about sewing. Check out the Singer site for more information.
