Apple could be preparing to launch a new version of AirPods next month according to rising leaker Jon Prosser. Prosser recently correctly predicted the announcement date of the iPhone SE, gaining him even more followers and an interview with our colleagues over at Macworld.
Prosser tweeted the below on Sunday, saying AirPods would have appeared at an Apple March event, something that never happened due to the coronavirus pandemic.
New AirPods (which were supposed to be at the March Event) are now ready to go.— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) April 19, 2020
Probably alongside the MacBook Pro next month.
He also says Apple is going to release new MacBook Pros, most likely updates of the current 16in model to 10th-gen Intel chips, and the 13in model to the same and the addition of the newer, better Magic Keyboard instead of the butterfly mechanism.
Apple has recently announced the iPad Pro and MacBook Air updates for 2020, and the second generation iPhone SE. It looks like the coronavirus stopped us from having a mammoth Apple March event, with the new products now staggered in their announcements via press release.
What these new AirPods will be like is up for debate. Apple currently sells AirPods, AirPods with wireless charging case and the AirPods Pro. The biggest rumour is for AirPods Lite, though opinion is split about how a new model would differ – in function and price – from what Apple already offers.
