Apple has confirmed its highly anticipated but truly ‘pro’ Mac Pro will go on sale on Tuesday, 10 December.

Apple’s website at the time of writing still does not display the date, but people who had signed up for email and push notifications about the sale date were informed, including Marques Brownlee who let us all know:

The email also mentions the Pro Display XDR, sold separately, will also be available to order. The wording and use of ‘order’ imply that customers who purchase a Mac Pro will still be in with a shipping wait.

We don’t know if the units will ship in time for Christmas, though the Mac Pro would be one hell of a generous holiday gift starting at $5,999. The Pro Display XDR starts at $4,999. Add to that the inevitable custom versions people will order, assembly will likely take a while.

The units are being assembled in Austin, Texas, at the factory the previous Mac Pro was also assembled. Donald Trump recently wrongly implied he had had a hand in encouraging Apple to open the plant. It has in fact been in operation for Mac Pro activity since 2012.
