Apple has announced it will repair certain models of its Series 2 and Series 3 Apple Watch for free if they have cracked in a certain way (via The Verge).

A new support page says:

“Apple has determined that, under very rare circumstances, a crack may form along the rounded edge of the screen in aluminum models of an Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The crack may begin on one side and then may continue around the screen as shown in the images below.”

It’s unusual for Apple to acknowledge manufacturing flaws in its hardware but great to see it is willing to repair all faults free of charge. Click here to see if your Apple Watch is affected and covered by the scheme. Notice that only specific models of the Series 2 and 3 are covered, and some limited to purchase within specific dates.

You can arrange repair via any Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider. Apple will check to see if your damage is in keeping with the fault as opposed to user maltreatment before signing off on repairs.
