In an interview with Wareable Denis Troper, head of product at Wear OS, suggested Google would release the updated software on a new hero product, potentially a Pixel Watch, though was careful not to give away anything concrete about the upcoming device.
"I think it still makes sense and we're going to still be doing that. I don't want to announce anything right now but the prospects are good," he told Wareable.
However, reliable leaker Evan Blass has now confirmed there will indeed be a Pixel Watch announced at the annual hardware event in late-September/early-October alongside the Pixel 3:
Besides the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, and second-gen Pixel Buds, a reliable source tells me -- with high confidence -- that Google's fall hardware event will also introduce a Pixel-branded watch. Have a great summer!— Evan Blass (@evleaks) May 10, 2018
We know no further details of the Pixel Watch at this stage, though you can read more details about the Android P Wear OS update. We'll keep updating this story as the news develops.
