Once a start-up, now well-known smartwatch maker Pebble has announce another new device. Here's what you need to know about the Pebble Time Round release date, price and specs. See also: Best smartwatches 2015.
"Today, we are setting new standard for what smartwatches can be and who they can be for. Today, Pebble comes full circle," said Pebble.
The Time Round follows on from various other watches and is somewhat surprisingly its first circular design. This means it will more closely rival the likes of the Moto 360, LG Watch Urbane and Vector Watch.
Pebble Time Round: Release date and price
Following on from the original Pebble Time which was launched earlier this year, the Pebble Time Round is now available to buy from the official site.
In the UK it costs from £229 (metal bands will be available soon and presumably more expensive) and the site says it will ship in 6-8 weeks placing the Pebble Time Round release date around early November.
It ships worldwide from this time but UK retail availability will be 'later this year' so if you want it sooner you can buy from Pebble at $249 not including any fees. EU retailers will get the Pebble Time Round 'early 2016'.
What's worth noting is that if you backed the Pebble Time Steel on Kickstarter you can get a nice discount on the new Round. Just Reserve one before 8 November with the email you used on Kickstarter and when the new Time Round ships you'll be discounted $50.
You then get 30 days to try and compare the two, during which you can return either - the price of watch you keep will equal your Pebble Time Steel pledge amount, plus the cost of return shipping. More details on this offer can be found here.
Pebble Time Round: Specs and features
One of the key feature of the Pebble Time Round is how thin and light it is. In fact, Pebble calls the 7.5mm and 28g watch the thinnest and lightest smartwatch in the world. You can buy it with a 20- or thinner 14mm strap.
Colour options include Black, Silver and Rose Gold with the latter exclusively for the 14mm size. Straps include Stone, White and Flame Red leather in the smaller size and Nero Black leather and Nubuck Brown for the larger. As mentioned already, metal bands will be available soon.
The Pebble Time Round features an always on e-paper colour display with an LED backlight and a slash resistant IPX7 design (no submerging it). The watch is made from marine grade stainless steel and 2.5D Gorilla Glass.
Like other Pebble watches it uses physical buttons and the firm touts up to two days of battery life plus quick charging – just 15 minutes to get a day of usage. A built-in mic can be used for voice replies.
The Pebble Time Round is compatible with iPhone 4S or later with iOS 8 or later. On the Android side you'll need version 4.3 or later.
