Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac 2010 There may not be any viruses in the wild ready to infect Mac OS X, but that hasn't deterred Kaspersky Lab creating a basic antivirus program for the platform.

There are some Trojans that can cause some harm and, as well as detecting these, Kaspersky Antivirus for Mac (KAV 2010) aims to help out long-suffering Windows users by screening any files that pass through a Mac for Microsoft malware.

At heart is an antivirus engine based on a simplified version of that in Kaspersky's Windows version. It can perform scheduled scans and on-demand scans to order, scouting through the entire system or those directories most at risk. The security program will also scan new files and email attachements as they are copied to the computer.

Kaspersky Antivirus for Mac has an automated mode that will make decisions on the user's behalf, or it can be manually configured for more sophisticated malware filtering.

KAV for Mac requires an Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later with 512MB available RAM, and costs £39.99 per year, or £49.99 per year for a three PC license.
