Philips has launched an 8in digital photo frame that offers Bluetooth connectivity and accepts almost any type of memory card. The Philips SPF7008 can receive photos sent wirelessly from a mobile phone.
The 8in screen has a standard 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 800x600 pixels. It has discreet touch-sensitive controls around the frame's edges, an auto-dimming mode to save energy and a 130-degree viewing angle. As well as initiating slideshow playback direct from a USB memory key or a removable memory card, the photo frame is able to play AVI, WMV and MOV video clips. The frame has a built-in speaker for this purpose. A comprehensive list of memory card formats is supported, from Secure Digital and SDHC to xD Picture Card and Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro DUO.
The display has a brightness of 250 cdm/2 and a contrast ratio of 300:1. The SPF7008 has an internal memory of 1GB, uses Philips' imagen Pro photo enhancement technology and comes with a RadiantColor feature that seeks to add a "new glow to old memories". It works with Mac OS X as well as Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 PCs and supports Bluetooth V2 (receiver only).
The 8in photo frame is set to go onsale in the UK later this month. Pricing has yet to be announced.
