Nokia has announced its Nokia 7 Plus at MWC 2018, a mid-range Android phone that will go on sale in April at €399 (around £350).
A larger version of the China-only Nokia 7, the Nokia 7 Plus features an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 6in full-HD+ 18:9 display primed for entertainment.
A good-looking device, available in Black/Copper and White/Copper, the Nokia 7 Plus has slim bezels that allow it to be operated in a single hand and to squeeze comfortably into a pocket. The body is built from a single block of 6000 series aluminium with copper edges and six layers of ceramic-feel paint. A fingerprint scanner is found on the rear.
Running Android One out of the box, which is for all intents and purposes vanilla Android 8.1 Oreo but with timely software updates (handled by Google itself) and minimal bloatware, it offers a pure Android experience and monthly security updates. New AI features will be added in Q2 2018, Nokia told us during our briefing.
The camera is a highlight, a dual-lens Zeiss model with 12Mp, 1.4um pixels, an f/1.75 aperture and a dual-tone LED flash. The second lens is a 13Mp telephoto model with 2x optical zoom. You'll find a Pro camera mode (as seen in the Nokia 1020) and a Portrait mode for which you can add or modify light sources. Around the front is a 16Mp Zeiss Super Pixel camera that can combine four pixels into one using adaptive sensor tech.
Excellent photography capabilities are paired with pro audio, with three mics enabling surround-sound recording.
The Nokia 7 Plus supports fast-charging over USB-C, and offers two-day life from its 3800mAh battery.
