Motorola is planning to update its Moto G5s and Moto G5s Plus imminently with three new versions. The Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play have some subtle differences, but all should appeal to those in the market for a budget smartphone, an area in which Motorola has long held the crown. We explain what to expect and when from the Moto G6.

When is the Moto G6 release date?
Motorola is expected to refresh its Moto G line at the MWC 2018 tradeshow in February. However, the company is not holding a press conference, so you'll need to keep your eyes glued to Tech Advisor for any news.
The Moto G6 and its siblings would likely go onsale in late February/early March.

How much will the Moto G6 cost?
We don't expect Motorola to deviate far from its current pricing for the Moto G series, since it remains a budget- to mid-range offering. The Moto G5s has an RRP of £219 and the G5S Plus £259, so expect similar figures for the G6 family. The Moto G6 Play will likely be a little cheaper than the standard and Plus models, given its lower spec.
Interestingly, Droid-Life claims the G6 and G6 Plus will cost around $240 and $330 respectively, which translates to a much cheaper £173 and £237. It's not clear where this information has come from.
What new features to expect in the Moto G6
There will actually be three new Moto G6 models: the standard Moto G6, the Moto G6 Plus and the Moto G6 Play.
Now with a new 3D Glass (rather than all-metal) Moto X4-like design the Moto G6 Plus will be a larger version of the standard model with a slightly bigger screen and battery, as well as a bump up in performance. The Moto G6 Play will be another variation on the standard model with a comparatively huge battery at 4,000mAh, but only a single-lens primary camera.
The Moto G6 Play was originally thought to have an HD 720p screen, but data revealed by HTML5test suggests it will also have a Full-HD+ display.
Key changes over the Moto G5S line include a move to 18:9 displays, upgraded processors and new cameras (now with a dual-lens 12Mp + 5Mp setup at the rear and 16Mp at the front, both with LED flashes).
