LG has not been slow to new ThinQ phone launches. The LG V30S ThinQ dropped in March, followed by the G7 ThinQ in May, and the LG V35 ThinQ in June. Now, we can expect the LG V40 ThinQ.

Here’s everything we know about the LG V40 ThinQ right now, but stay tuned for updates as further details become available.

When is the LG V40 ThinQ release date?

It is confirmed that the V40 ThinQ launch event will take place on 3 October in New York.

You can see the invitation sent out via The Verge, which doesn't beat around the bush by naming the phone off the bat. LG may well hold other events around the world - possibly London and Korea - but we'll have to wait and see.

'Come and see what's next' isn't the most enticing line and 'Take 5' might sound like LG is referring to its fifth attempt at getting the phone right (although it is if you exclude the V30S), but we think it's actually a hint and the V40's rumoured five cameras.

How much will the LG V40 cost?

The LG V series’ price has been on the rise. The V35 was priced at £900/$900, so we don’t expect the V40 to be any cheaper.

We anticipate a price tag around £1,000/$1,000. We will update this as pricing details become available.

What are the LG V40 ThinQ new features?

The LG V40 promises a slew of new features we’re excited to see. First of, the V40 ThinQ is to have five cameras, three of which should be on the back along with the fingerprint sensor.

Androidpit has managed to take a look at a data sheet for the LG V40 which had plenty of details.

For starters, the cameras are detailed as 12Mp (f/1.5) with 1.4µm pixels, 16Mp (f/1.9) with 1.0µm pixels, and 12Mp (f2.4) with 1.0µm pixels. These include telephoto and wide angle options.

At the front, there will be 8- and 5Mp cameras and the phone is rumoured to have 3D facial recognition, similar to iPhone X.

The V40 ThinQ is to also have a large screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent and smaller bezels. We're expecting the ever-popular notch, but like the G7 ThinQ you should be able to guise it in the settings.

The V40 ThinQ is to also have a dedicated Google Assistant button beside the volume rocker.

As usual, LG won't forget about audio and the phone is reportedly getting a Quad DAC and stereo speaker Boombox like the G7 ThinQ.

What are the LG V40 ThinQ specifications?

Not much has been divulged on LG V40 specs, but we anticipate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor will be at the heart of this phone, and most likely 6GB RAM like the V35+ ThinQ. There will be either 64- or 128GB of storage.

The Snapdragon 845 is becoming a standard powerhouse to most high performing phones, including LG’s own V35 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ, and also Samsung’s Galaxy S9 models, Sony’s Xperia XZ2 phones, the OnePlus 6 and other popular phones.

We saw IP68 water and dust resistance in V35 ThinQ, along with wireless charging so we're hoping to see similar specs on the V40.

Again, the 6.4in OLED screen with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio are other specs we’re looking forward to seeing, and of course, the trio of cameras on the back.

We will be updating this article as more rumours develop or are confirmed, so keep your eyes peeled.
