Toshiba has revealed its first Ultrabook, the Portégé Z830, will be made available in the UK at the end of November.

Ultrabooks are a new class of laptops under 20mm (0.8in) thick that "marry the performance and capabilities of today's laptops with tablet-like features" according to Intel. They're designed to offer a happy medium between laptops and tablets.

Just 15.9mm thick and weighing 1.12Kg, the Portégé Z830, is powered by either a second generation Intel Core i3 or i5 processor and features a 13.3in non-glare HD LED display.

Housed in a durable and lightweight magnesium alloy chassis finished in brushed metal, the Toshiba Portégé Z830 comes with up to 6GB of DDR3 memory and a 128GB solid state drive (SSD)

Users will benefit from one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI output so content stored on the laptop can be displayed on HD screen. The laptop also features an integrated SD-card reader, a backlit spill resistant keyboard, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

Integrated stereo speakers enhanced with Dolby Advanced Audio 2 are positioned underneath the front of the laptop, which also comes with a 1.3Mp webcam and Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional and Intel Anti-Theft technology that ensures users can completely disable their laptop or delete data remotely in the event of it being stolen. Toshiba says the ultrabook offers up to eight hours of battery life

Priced from £899, the Toshiba Portégé Z830 will be available at the end of November.
