Toshiba has followed the lead of the Asus Eee PC and launched its own mini laptop - the NB100. Running the Intel Atom N270 processor, the mini laptop features 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard disk drive as well as 8.9in widescreen TruBrite display with a resolution of 1024x600 and an LED backlight.

Available with either Linux Ubuntu 8.04 (complete with OpenOffice 2.4) or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition that includes MS Works 8.5 and a trial of Microsoft Office, Toshiba claims the NB100, which has built-in Wi-Fi, has a battery life of up to 3hrs 47mins .

The mini laptop, which is available in black, gold or silver, also benefits from an ethernet port, three USB ports, integrated stereo speakers and a 0.3Mp webcam.

The NB100 measures 225x190.5x33mm and weighs less than 1Kg. It will be available from October. No prices have been released yet.
