England netbook The Hi-Grade Notino mL100E is the official netbook of the England football team.

In keeping with the World Cup theme of Hi-Grade’s new Notino W5900E laptop, the Notino mL100E comes decorated with imagery designed to warm the cockles of a fervent England fan's heart.

But while themed case designs frequently alienate as many people as they draw in, the Hi-Grade Notino mL100E's visually arresting adornment possesses rather more flair than the simple England-strip design of the W5900E.

At its heart is the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450. This processor has fuelled a number of recent netbooks, and the Hi-Grade Notino mL100E has a great deal in common generally with the Asus Eee PC 1008P and the Samsung N210.

Official England netbook

The 1GB of DDR2 RAM is standard for an Atom netbook - mandated by Intel in fact - while the 160GB Hitachi hard drive should be enough for most people's basic storage needs.

In line with other netbooks with 10.1in screens, the Hi-Grade Notino mL100E's LCD panel works at a resolution of 1024x600. The level of detail isn't enormous, but provided you don’t want to move around too much (viewing angles aren't great), the screen packs a decent amount of colour.

The Hi-Grade Notino mL100E has a couple of USB ports built into the side, along with external VGA and headphone and microphone sockets. A memory card drive gives extra storage facilities, and this or a USB 2.0 device will let you extend the RAM in Windows 7 Starter. The selection of connectivity options include 10/100Mb/s ethernet and wireless 802.11n, while a webcam is built into the top of the screen.

Whereas most netbooks have the trackpad buttons located underneath the trackpad itself, the Hi-Grade Notino mL100E has them situated to either side of the trackpad, á la HP.

The Hi-Grade Notino mL100E works with the cut-down Windows 7 Starter operating system. Loaded software includes Microsoft Works and the free version of AVG Antivirus.

Available now, this official England netbook costs £279 inc VAT.
