Sky Now TV Box

Sky is aiming to get its Now TV streaming service to more customers with the £10 Now TV Box.

Anyone with a TV can now access Sky's Now TV service without a costly outlay with the firm's new Now TV Box, an internet media streamer. The news comes after Sky made Now TV available via LG Smart TVs with an exclusive app.

At £9.99, the Now TV Box is aimed at anyone without an LG Smart TV or other means so access Sky Movies and Sky Sports – of which there are many (PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, Xbox, PS3, YouView and Roku).

Keen-eyed readers will notice that the Now TV Box is an exact clone of the Roku LT player, but white and significantly cheaper. See also: Sky Now TV hits Roku players.

As well as Now TV, the gadget will give consumers access to BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, the BBC News App and Sky News. There's also access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and other apps will be added 'overtime', according to the broadcaster.

Sky said: "Despite the explosion in connected devices such as Sky set-top boxes, games consoles and connected TVs, there are still up to tens of millions of regular TVs in the UK that cannot currently connect to the internet.  The NOW TV box provides an affordable and simple way for any broadband-connected home to join the online TV revolution."

For £10, the device is a bargain but that doesn't give you access to Now TV which costs £9.99 (currently on offer for £8.99) per month for a Sky Movies Pass and a £9.99 one-off payment for 24-hours access to Sky Sports.
