Rock Xtreme 840 gaming laptop Rock has come up with two new "all systems go" high-specification gaming laptops. The Rock Xtreme 790 is primed with 1GB of nVidia GeForce GTX 280M graphics memory for no-holds-barred gaming. The Xtreme 840 comes with 2GB of video graphics memory.

nVidia says the GTX 280M GPU is by far the fastest notebook graphics processor currently available. The top-end GPU promises the best framerates possible on a laptop and are twinned with an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and 6GB of RAM.

High-definition video playback is supported and Rock also fits a Blu-ray HD drive on the £1,999 Xtreme 790 laptop and an HDMI port. Storage comes in the form of three 500GB SATA drives in a RAID 1 array. The Xtreme 790 runs 64bit Windows Vista Ultimate and comes with a free upgrade to Windows 7.

The Rock Xtreme 840 laptops, meanwhile, start at £1,699 for the standard Intel Core 2 Duo model and £2,229 for the Intel Core 2 Quad SLI version which has 2GB of nVidia graphics memory.

The Xtreme 840 models have a 1920x1080 full HD resolution on an 18.4in screen. The vast display has a true 16:10 aspect ratio and, as with the Xtreme 740 models, there's up to 1.5TB of onboard storage.

The Xtreme 840 also has a touch sensor that provides slick access to media controls, camera and eight dedicated gaming buttons.
