Audio company Onkyo is launching a £229 CD player that has its own iPod dock. The Onkyo CBX-300 is designed to be a modern-day hi-fi, swapping the cassette deck of yore with a dock for a digital audio player.
Onkyo believes such a setup will appeal to consumers who want to integrate an iPod into their home audio system, but don’t want the hassle - not to mention the unsightly clutter - of connecting additional cables. At £229 including VAT, however, it's a neat but quite pricey option.
The Onkyo CBX-300 CD reciever system plays CDs, MP3-encoded CDs and WMA-encoded CDs as well as offering FM radio. It also features a dock, which allows iPod playback.
The smart and sleek black system features a four-mode preset EQ function, Active Bass Control technology which Onkyo claims optimises audio quality. Magnetically-shielded full-range, bass-reflex 8cm OMF diaphragm speakers with Aero Acoustic Drive provide a powerful and natural sound.
As well as being an audio player, the Onkyo CBX-300 functions as an alarm clock radio. it has a four-mode timer with a snooze setting, and comes bundled with a remote control to skip or shuffle tracks.
