Windows 7 has now been retired, so millions more people will be making the move to Windows 10. If you still haven't yet, read our guide to how it's done.
However, once you're there you might be frustrated that Microsoft is still yet to implement a feature that means you can use your PC without entering the password each time. If you don't have Windows Hello or fingerprint authentication, this can become very frustrating.
It may not be the most secure, but it would be nice to have the option to bypass entering your password on your Windows PC, particularly if you're the only person using it at home. However, there is a way it can be done.
Bypass Windows login
- Type netplwiz in the Start menu search bar, then click the top result to run the command
- Untick the box next to 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer' and hit 'Apply'
- Enter your username and password, then re-enter your password. Click 'OK'
- Click 'OK' again to save the changes
To reactivate Windows password login just return to this settings menu and tick the box next to 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer'.
