Just like Nintendo Directs or Inside Xbox, the PlayStation State of Play videos are one of the ways Sony updates fans with new game reveals, details, and more, so they’re essential viewing for anyone who wants to keep up with what’s coming next for PlayStation.

They’re easy to miss if you’re not paying attention though - so here’s when the next State of Play takes place, what it’s about, and how to watch along live.

When is the next State of Play?

The next State of Play takes place Thursday 6 August at the following times:

  • 1pm PT
  • 4pm ET
  • 9pm BST (UK time)
  • 10pm CET

Sony has said that the stream should last 40+ minutes, so set aside a bit of time for this one.

How to watch State of Play

When the stream starts you'll be able to watch on the PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels.

What to expect from the next State of Play

The upcoming episode will "focus on third-party-published games coming to PS4 and PS VR," according to a blog post by Sony's Sid Shuman which also promises "plenty of new gameplay footage and other game updates."

Arguably more excitingly, it will also include "a few PS5 game updates on third-party and indie titles," but only games already seen in June's showcase - don't expect to see the reveal of any new PS5 games.

There also won't be any footage of first-party PlayStation Studios games, nor will there be news on prices, dates, pre-orders, or anything else regarding PS5 hardware.
