Hi guys,

Just got hold of my 128Gb ssd , going to do a clean install of win 7 , what are the advantages of choosing x64 over x32 ? i know about the 3gb ram limit, but what are the other "real world" advantages?

The 3GB RAM limit isn't a 3GB limit at all. It's 4GB minus the memory required to address your hardware. The more hardware you have, the more memory you lose. Most systems have around the 3.2GB - 3.5GB mark available RAM to the operating system.

Other than that, if you have good hardware and less than 4GB RAM installed you won't receive any regularly tangible benefit from an x64 installation with W7.

Is x64 worth it? Well, yes. Applications are more commonly being written now to utilise the extended RAM capacity. There are however a few apps that won't run on x64, so be careful.

Thanks for your reply, all i really do is play games (CoD and that kind of thing) , and some video work. I was going to upgrade the RAM in the near future, ATM it has 4gb and is a Q6600 with an 8800GTX card.

I thinki'll take the leap :)

Or if your your motherboard can address over 4Gb then 64Bit is the way to go click here to have a look about addressing all the Ram
