Windows Defender - why no reports?

I have had Vista Home Premium on a new PC for nearly a year and Windows Defender has yet to show any evidence of 'catching' spyware. Nothing in the quarantine, nothing on the report page. Am I missing something here?

No.

That is the way it works. Some people do like to see thigs "to prove that it's working" but Defender also resists spyware so you could say it is working behind the scenes.

In spite of the hype not even the best are foolproof so running a scanner, say once a month, is useful insurance. (note a scanner not a full time protector)

The one that I use is Superantispyware free version click here all it has ever found is the usual harmless tracking cookies.

Most users have found the same, but I agree would be nice to see some message that something had been stopped. See my thread 31 March 2008 "Spyware Spybot Vista and all that"
