Any opinion please, will my motherboard below support Win 8.1 without too much trouble?

I don't think your CPU is compatible - it's twelve years old after all. According to Microsoft, these are the CPU requirements: Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2. Here's more info about those three CPU extensions.
