windows 7 file system query

i have windows xp professional, but if I got windows 7 professional and installed it as a clean install. does it remove NTFS, or is install a new file system?

It still uses NTFS but if you do a "clean install" you will reformat the hard drive and lose your existing data.

Well as i have researched on it since the question as been posted, It says that windows 7 does'nt change the file system if you upgrade from windows Xp to windows 7. However If you clean install windows 7 by formating the drive iam sure you will lose all of your data on those drives.

You cannot upgrade XP to Windows 7, only Vista.

I would copy, using a freebie such as Freefilesynch, All your data (My Documents) to a USB HD then re import when you install W7.In fact I took the opportunity of partitioning the drive ino 100 gig for System, programme files, and the balance for data (My documents etc.
