windows 7 32bit or 64 bit?

i am running windows vista want to upgade to windows 7.in my system info my pc says its a system type x86 based pc..which i think is 32bit..but my cpu is a intel core 2 Q8200 @2.33 which i think is 64bit..so which windows do i need 32bit or 64bit?

You can run 32 bit windows on a 64 bit processor, so possibly that's what is happening? If you are sure that your processor has 64 bit architecture (which from a quick google search I would agree with), then you can run 64 bit windows.

Unless you have a good reason for using 64 bit (ie you run memory intensive applications) I would stay with 32 bit as there are usually more drivers available.

If you have more than 4GB memory installed go with 64 bit if you want it to be utilised. If 4GB memory or less then stick with 32 bit
