Windows 10- RegEdit error question

I was trying to prevent RegEdit saving the last opened location. I had previously used the deny access trick successfully on Windows versions since 7 but it has gone wrong with the latest update to Win 10. I edited the following entry:

Computer\HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit

This has worked but if I click on the key I get an "error opening key / regedit cannot be opened" message. I can still open any other keys. Is there an easy way to restore access to this key? I don't have an up-to-date backup of the Registry.
