Windows 10 can't accept my choices

  wescliff 18:07 11 Mar 2018

I've changed a few of the default programs such as photo viewer, music player etc. Simply because I prefer those I have chosen. But every time I use one up comes a list of available programs with my choice highlighted and a box to tick to always use that program. It always appears no matter how many times I tick the box. Seems as though if you don't use Microsoft defaults then they are going to nag you. Just wondered if there was a way to finally stop this nuisance. Thanks for any help.

That should only come up if you right click and select open with.

if you double click it should auto open using the program of you chose to always open with.

Sorry, missed this. No, I went to default apps and made the changes there. Very annoying, also my default browser is Chrome, but often Edge will open instead.

I'd be tempted to back up and do a RESET (keeping data) to recover and corrupt system files to solve the problem.
