Win 10 Update KB4494441 needs to be run twice

  alanrwood 09:52 15 May 2019

It has been reported widely that KB4494441 (Cumulative Update) leaves the version at 17763.475 ie it has not updated correctly. After the update it would be wise to check the version using Run/Winver. If the version has not changed try a repeat of Windows Update. On my machine it redownloaded this update and re-installed it. The version then changed to 17763.503. Strange as looking at the Update record it shows this update as being successful on both occasions.

Same here. My guess is on of the other updates is getting in the way.

this is how to fix all windows problems due to faulty download or install .

click here and do the update as normal and write down the kb number of the troublesome item example kb12345 then click the link to the website , next type kb...…. into the search box at top right , you will now get a list of all the different versions of the kb item you want , check the spec of your pc to make sure you get the right version.

Thanks, alanrwood. Same happened on my desktop and laptop. I would not have spotted the issue.

It seems that the reason it needs to run twice on some (most) machines is that it depends on an update on a .net install which is installed on the first run which allows the second run to actually update.
