Why is my £900 Laptop so slow on games

  chaz17 17:56 19 Nov 2016

I recently puchased a "Top Spec" laptop and was playing a few games such as City Skylines and Rollercoaster Tycoon World to which I experienced a considerable ammount of lag and slow camera movements at all times. I am quite annoyed as I spent a lot of money on this Laptop and was told by the seller it as a gaming latop. Could someone tell me what is wrong with it and why it is so slow?

Here are the specs

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2592 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) (RAM) 16.0 GB Intel(R) HD Graphics 520

If more info is needed let me know

Kind regards

Hi I don't know a lot about gaming other than to say that the cost of the computer doesn't mean it is better for gaming. For example the New Macbook Pro coming in at £1700 is not a gaming machine. I think the graphics on your machine are integrated and I think gaming machines tend to have dedicated graphics. I of course am happy to be corrected.

As the others have said it seems you don't have a dedicated graphics card, what make and model is the laptop?

Toshiba Satellite p50t-C

Also, would it be possible for me to put that top graphic card into my laptop? If so how and what would be a good place to do it? (East London)

Kind Regards

Not possible

Toshiba Satellite p50t-C. What comes after the C. I noticed that most come with GTX 950M graphics but maybe they are newer models

This is all it says - V5.0 PSPT4E-003001EN

The last one and this one are correct.it does come with GTX 950M graphics.

Not knowing a lot about laptops I don't know if it comes with a graphics card or not or whether it is the GTX 950M dedicated graphics only.

Maybe just needing the latest graphics driver update Microsoft have been know to update the wrong one.

In reality, about the only things that you can upgrade on a Laptop is the RAM and the Hard Drive. Everything else is hardwired

As already said, you need a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. For £900 you should have been able to get one. I think you have been mis-sold.
