Where's my missing hard disk space?

  LinH 19:40 13 Mar 2007

Try this one fellow forumites!

System: Visa Home Premium on a Dell desktop.

If I right click on drive C a pie chart indicates that I have used 21Gb of the available hard disk space.

However, if I double click on drive C the right hand pane of the resulting window gives a breakdown of C in the form of a list of folders. A rough calculation of the size of these folders results in a total of about 9.5Gb.

My question is then, where is the missing 12.5Gb?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe it's the usual (hidden) Dell recovery partition?

Thanks for your response Pine Man but no, I've checked that. The Dell recovery partition is quite small really, it's measured in Megabytes whereas I'm trying to find missing gigabytes.
