Hi there, I have a 500gb hard drive that has been partitioned (not by me) into C Drive 92gb and D drive 300+gb. Over this last few weeks I have been losing hd space however and I dont know why. I have tried running win disk optimiser, defrag, etc to no avail. Can anyone help reccomend any free software that will track down that missing spaceThanksBelcanto
This might help:click hereHave you checked how much space your restore points are allowed to use? They can be quite hungry and do not show up easily.
Hi JB, thanks for the quick reply, will try the link later on tonight, according to my laptop though I dont have any restore points. Will use Norton Ghost to back up onto my external just to be safe.
i think you just used the C partition for all your data. please note that D is seperate and files will not go automatically there you need to move them yourself to D by goingto Start / my computer / D drivethen create a folder and cut then paste documents.to find out what is taking the space its simple1) go to my computer2) in the search space type .3) once search is complete, right click and select arrange by size. you will then see what is taking the space from top to bottom
