Vista Upgrade

In early Jan 07 I bought a new PC (from PC World) pre-installed with XP + "Free" Vista Premium Upgrade. Sent for the disc, got a confirmation and the promptly forgot about it.Inside of a month this PC "died", so took it back to PC World, who immediately offered me a replacement (well done PCW !). However this new model has Vista Premium pre-installed.Got an email today to say my upgrade disc has been dispatched.Obviously it's of no use to me, but can it be (legally) used elsewhere?

The proper answer would be no as the computer it was meant for has in fact died.

However having said that I do find myself wondering if it would work as an upgrade on another PC that had XP installed as after all its never been registered.

I suppose it depends on whether it would somehow insist on being tied to the XP serial number it was meant to be used on. I cannot see how they could do that.

You'd definatly be breaking the licence agreement but would it actually work? I wonder....
